Hottest needn't come at a high price. The hip Ace Hotel in Portland builds upon the success of its older, smaller Seattle cousin. The idea was to renovate an older industrial space, fill it with cool artwork and make each room its own design statement. Apparently it's working: This Pacific Northwest hotspot is a favorite of a beautiful bohemian crowd that's become bored with conventionally designed urban hotels.
